CONCORD, N.C. -- Travis Kvapil decided driving for Jack Roush in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2007 without a sponsor for now may be a better choice then waiting for a possible Nextel Cup ride with Cal Wells that has one on board. Wells recently secured sponsorship for the No. 32 Chevrolet that Kvapil has driven this season, but he is not yet able to announce it. But in the interim, Kvapil accepted Roush's offer in the seat that this season was held by Mark Martin and David Ragan. | | |

"We are pleased beyond measure that we were able to get a driver the caliber of Travis Kvapil," Roush said. "At only 30 years old with a truck championship and two years of Nextel Cup experience under his belt, Travis brings great long and short term potential to and for Roush Racing." In addition to claiming the Craftsman Truck Series title in 2003, he also earned rookie of the year honors in '01. He compiled five wins, 40 top-five finishes and 64 top-10s in four full seasons in the series. "It's a great opportunity to join an organization that constantly demonstrates its ability to compete successfully in all areas of competition," Kvapil said. At this point the truck is without a sponsor but Roush Racing president Geoff Smith believes now that a driver has been chosen for the truck, a sponsor announcement will likely follow. "Our sponsor prospects have been waiting for us to settle on the driver and now that Travis is on board, we expect to close on a sponsorship shortly," Smith said. |
