Ron Hornaday must feel like he's in a familiar place.

With his victory last week at Milwaukee, he leaped Matt Crafton in the point standings and now leads the veteran Truck Series driver by 36 points heading into Saturday's Memphis Travel 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park (5:30 p.m. ET, SPEED). Pretty straightforward considering this is the time of year that the seasoned Hornaday routinely emerges as a title contender.

Last year, it was the Memphis race in which Hornaday surged. He won the event, then took the points lead -- also ahead of Crafton, but by 27 points. He went on to finish second in the championship hunt to Johnny Benson by seven points.

With nine more points on his cushion this year, it could be advantageous after the final 15 races are sorted out.

"Well, I have won this event twice, once with Travis Kvapil and last year with Hornaday. I think the hardest thing is finding the maximum amount of grip and keeping the truck from getting tight. If you can do that, you have a great shot at winning the race."
-- Rick Ren, crew chief for defending winner Ron Hornaday.

0Races at Memphis Motorsports Park that have been won by a driver starting outside the top 10. Three races have been won from the pole. The worst starting position by a winner was 10th (Travis Kvapil, 2007).
2Victories for Ron Hornaday at Memphis, including last year's race. The 2008 victory came during a stretch when Hornaday scored five consecutive top-10 finishes and 11 in a 13-race stretch. Hornaday's other win at Memphis was in 1998.
2Memphis winners who are entered in Saturday's race: Ron Hornaday (1999, 2008) and Dennis Setzer (2001).
3Consecutive top-10 finishes this season for rookie Tayler Malsam. He has five top-10s this year. He has finished 14th or better in nine of the 10 races this season and has completed all but three laps.
4Drivers with an average running position of 10th or better in the last four races at Memphis, all of whom rank seventh or better in points: Ron Hornaday (4.776), Matt Crafton (10.088), Mike Skinner (10.789) and Brian Scott (10.912).
5Times the points lead has changed this season in 10 races. Ron Hornaday is the current leader, taking the top spot from Matt Crafton last week after winning at Milwaukee.
7Consecutive top-five finishes for Dennis Setzer at Memphis from 1999-2005, including a victory in 2001. Since then, he has finished 10th, 19th and 12th.
22Laps led by Stacy Compton, the most by a driver who has not won at Memphis and is entered in Saturday's race. Only eight drivers entered in Saturday's race have led a lap at Memphis.
93Points that separate fifth-place David Starr in the standings from 12th-place Chad McCumbee. Of those nine drivers from fifth to 12th, just two have won races this year: Brian Scott (seventh) and Colin Braun (11th).
904Points scored by Matt Crafton in the last six races at Memphis, more than any other driver. In the last four races, however, Ron Hornaday has scored the most points (635) while Crafton is third on the list (615).
