CONCORD, N.C. -- As Lowe's Motor Speedway prepares for the 50th running of the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24, speedway officials have launched a new Web site, www.coke600.com, to keep fans up-to-date on all the special festivities planned around NASCAR's only 600-mile race.
Site features include:
An online fan vote for the greatest racing moment in Lowe's Motor Speedway history that includes video clips from 32 memorable moments at the 1.5-mile superspeedway.
A section where visitors can read memories from fans that have attended previous races at the speedway as well as post their own special recollections.
A festivities page that highlights pre-race entertainment and related promotions.
The top moments in track history have been narrowed down to 32 and condensed into video clips that fans can view before making their choice. The online selection process pairs thw video clips in a bracket-style voting system with new matchups revealed each week. The moment that receives the most votes in each bracket pairing will advance to the next round until only the top vote-getter remains.
"For five decades Lowe's Motor Speedway has produced the most memorable moments in motorsports," said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway.
"The fans have helped us make history and it's only fitting that the fans choose the greatest on-track moment ever at LMS. I know they'll have some fun watching the brackets pair down different drivers and moments against each other from different eras."
The greatest racing moment in track history will be announced during the week leading up to the 25th running of the All-Star Race on May 16
In the coming weeks, additional elements will be added, including a scavenger hunt that will award prizes daily and a special Web vignette video that celebrates the history of Lowe's Motor Speedway, the Coca-Cola 600 and race fans.
Tickets for the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24 start at just $49, and can be purchased online at www.lowesmotorspeedway.com or by calling 1-800-455-FANS.
