Carpentier to drive No. 55 for Waltrip at Sonoma

CORNELIUS, N.C. -- Patrick Carpentier will drive Michael Waltrip Racing's No. 55 Toyota at Infineon Raceway on June 21.

"If I see where I can improve my car's performance then that's exactly what I am going to do," said Waltrip, who has two top-five finishes and 11 top-10s in his Cup Series road-racing career. "I am a good road racer, but Patrick is a great road racer."

Carpentier also will drive MWR's No. 99 in the Nationwide Series race at Montreal on Aug. 30.

Carpentier has two second-place finishes at Montreal, a top-five finish at Mexico City and five top-10 finishes in Nationwide competition. He also has three top-25 finishes in Cup Series road-course events.
